Mechanics 30A Course Outline
Mechanics 30A is partly competency based theory, and mostly hands on shop work. The theory part of the course includes 13.0 hours of required theory assignments, and 7.0 hours of required presentations. The theory assignments can be completed in any order at any time throughout the course. Theory tasks are given a certain amount of time to be completed, which relate directly to percent marks. If a task is worth 1.0 hour, then 1.0 percent is added to your final grade mark when you complete it.
For the hands on part of the course you are expected to work in the shop diagnosing and repairing automotive service problems. Shop hours relate directly to percent marks as well, so you get 1.0 percent for every shop hour that you work. You must record your shop work on a time sheet for every hour that you work, and have it checked by your teacher.
