Mechanics 20B Course Outline

Mechanics 20B is approximately 20/80 split of theory, and mostly hands on engines work.  The theory assignments MUST be completed when due in the course.  This is a class that is theory and labour intensive.  Homework will be assigned regularly.
The homework assignments are necessary to complete the content necessary to ensure enough shop hours are available to complete the shop work.  Quizzes and theory assignments will account for the 20% theory mark.  Shop work is worth 60% & final worth 20%.

For the hands on part of the course you are expected to work in the shop estimating, diagnosis, disassembling, machining, repairing, and reassembling a gasoline or diesel four stroke engine.  Shop hours relate directly to percent marks as well, so you get 1.0 percent for every shop hour that you work.  You must record your shop work on a time sheet for every hour that you work, and have it checked by your teacher.

Any student
  who:
1. Does not submit assignments or
2. Fails to acheive a passing score on tests or
3. Displays a lack of effort or interest in the shop or
4. Receives less than 40% on his/her mid-term report

indicates that s/he is not interested enough in this course to do the necessary work to succeed.  S/he is wasting her/his time, slowing the progress of the entire class, and wasting ratepayers tax dollars.  S/he can expect an interview with his/her teacher and an administrator regarding his/her further enrollment in this class.

The student which is rebuilding an engine will absorb all related costs needed to complete the task.
